We're proud to announce that Thomas International is in contention for two awards at the Buckinghamshire Business Awards.

Buckinghamshire Business First has revealed the businesses in the running to win an award in their prestigious annual awards ceremony, honouring the entrepreneurial spirit, vision and drive of the local business community. We are proud to announce that Thomas International is in contention for two of the award categories:

  • Apprentice and Young Person Employer of the Year
  • International Trader of the Year

We were delighted to hear this news and put the raft of award shortlistings down to having the right balance of people working for our business. All of our potential employees go through a robust recruitment process using Thomas tools to ensure they are a good fit for the business. Our employees continue to use the tools throughout their career to help them and the company understand if they are happy in their roles, where their strengths lie and if there are any areas in need of development. This is essential to both the success of our business, and the individuals within it.

To be chosen as a finalist for the International Trader Award is further recognition of our rapid expansion over the last 12 months, particularly in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and South Africa. A commitment to innovation has allowed Thomas International to compete internationally, and we are now operating in over 60 countries, with our tools available in over 56 languages.

Recruiting young people and nurturing the talent that they bring has not only supported the significant growth of our business, but will help to fuel our future growth as we continue to increase our intake of young people each year. We have injected a fresh new energy into our workforce by giving our young people the opportunity to get fully involved in the business and empowering them to showcase their skills and knowledge. They have new and increased skills and knowledge in areas such as IT and social media, fresh eyes and mind-sets along with business enthusiasm and unique talents. They understand how language is changing, and they are able to keep our business up-to-date with the latest techniques and technology. They drive the future of technology, and they aim high and are motivated to learn. All of these assets are essential for us to be able to keep up with the level of innovation required to make us a future-proof business.

Hiring young people not only supports our succession plan and allows us to future-proof our business, but also helps us to foster an environment of innovation and dynamism, with input across all generations. There is no escaping that technology is evolving at a rapid pace and as a technology-led organisation, having young people on board who are particularly adept at progressing with this pace is invaluable to us.

- Louise Basu, HR Director at Thomas International

We are incredibly proud to have the tools to develop our young people, who are key to the growth of our business. We are delighted that independent bodies are recognising the work we are doing, and it is fantastic to have that third party endorsement.

- Ciaran Morton, UK Managing Director at Thomas International

The winners will be announced at the Buckinghamshire Business Awards ceremony and dinner in June, when businesses from across the region will join together to celebrate.

Thomas International are proud to be sponsoring the Business Leader of the Year award at this event.  To see the full list of finalists and find out more about the awards visit: https://bbf.uk.com/events/buckinghamshire-business-awards
