John Lewis CSR partnership

“Almost for the first time, my son voluntarily had a conversation with us about what he wants to do in the future.”

The opportunity

John Lewis High Wycombe, located in the United Kingdom, are commited to providing support in the community, particularly when it comes to education and helping young people to prepare for bright futures. They collaborated with us to provide students from 10 schools in Buckinghamshire with the tools to take ownership of their performance at a crucial time in their school careers.

The project

Our partnership enabled us to provide students across the county with tailored, in-depth guidance around the future employability using our PPA assessment. The feedback also gave the students a deeper insight into themselves and the way they prefer to work, boosting their self-awareness, confidence and motivation. The participating students ranged from those in the Gifted and Talented programs to those struggling to reach the pass mark for their upcoming exams – each with a unique set of pressures.

All the students received a PPA report detailing their behavioural style and working strengths, as well as one-to-one feedback from an experienced Thomas Education consultant.

The results

The students walked away with a new-found confidence and the motivation to use their strengths to work towards a successful future.

One school saw a rise in predicted grades, greater attendance at after school classes and a first or second choice college or sixth form place secured for every participant.

Another saw Attitude to Learning scores increase for every student involved in the scheme, with a number of students jumping to 100% attendance. Across all 10 schools, 100% of the students said they benefitted from the feedback and would recommend it to a friend.
