How to complete TEIQue

The Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue – pronounced TQ) is Thomas’ emotional intelligence assessment. Emotional intelligence involves recognizing, understanding, and controlling our own and other people’s emotions, so that we and others can be as productive and effective as possible.

EI is important in the work environment as behaviour and emotional competence have a large part to play in an individual’s performance. The TEIQue offers an accurate and objective way to measure emotional competences in the work context and can lead to very deep insights for both the individual and the organization in which they work.

The Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue) was developed by K. V. Petrides, PhD. It is one of the world’s best-researched psychometric instruments, supported by the internationally renowned London Psychometric Laboratory based at University College London (UCL). Example Questions

The questionnaire comprises 153 questions. For each question there are seven possible responses, ranging from 1 = Disagree Strongly to 7 = Agree Strongly. It should take approximately 20-25 minutes to complete.
  
In line with trait emotional intelligence theory, there are no right or wrong answers, no bad scores, but simply facets of emotion that may or may not be relevant to a particular job role. You must work quickly and intuitively and avoid thinking too long about the exact meaning of the statements.
